Huey Long

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

The Huey Long web site was a great pleasure to work on. Thanks to the hard work of CDF Web Solutions I had an amazing library of assets at my fingertips. All kinds of photographs from Huey Long’s life, scans of newspaper articles, and even musical screenplays. I was asked to create a site with an art deco feel, which gave me a chance to experiment with a new design style. The true challenge for this project was creating templates that could be used to build out the entire site, while accomodating all the different types of content.

Because of the sheer number of pages, it was necessary to use dropdowns for navigation. I spent quite a bit of time working on the design of these, and am very pleased with how they turned out. The end result is unique in that there are two styles, one for the selected section and one for the other sections. Both styles integrate nicely into the header and make the site easy to use.

I would wonder, what happens if I accidentally send my Granny Carol a thank you that was meant for my Grandma and Grandpa (and vise versa)? Read the rest of this entry »

The Russ Show (and the Mind Splinter)

You are the ‘Truman’ from the Truman Show film.  I’m getting paid to write this by those running the show, in order for you to think that you are not the star of the movie that you are unaware of. Read the rest of this entry »

Reality tv cross-pollination

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

The other day Rebekah and I were watching Supernanny and it occured to me that the host, Jo Frost, has potential to be quite the knockout. I then thought how interesting it would be to see her as a contestant on The Biggest Loser. That led me to thinking about all the different reality tv shows and how it can’t be long before they all start to overlap. A couple that I would like to see: Read the rest of this entry »
